about

Jelena Jiang is an animation and digital media student from Portland, Oregon. Her interest in visual art and gaming started when she was young, and after starting to teach herself how to draw digitally in high school, she decided to pursue a digital arts career. She is currently in her fourth year of study at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where she plans to complete the accelerated Animation & VFX BS/Digital Media MS program before returning home to the west coast to find her place in the digital art industry.

Her initial interest in creating art stemmed primarily from her passion for video games, anime, and animated music videos. As a high schooler, she started to take interest in analyzing animated sprites and cutscenes and clips, and what used to be a hobby morphed into her chosen path of study. Her university studies have given her a newfound enthusiasm for the more technical side of animation, as well as game design, which she’s focused her graduate studies on.

In the time she doesn’t spend squinting at a screen and studying, she enjoys listening to and playing music, sewing by hand, and gaming with her friends.
